“The 10-track LP brims with luscious electro-pop, all guided by Muro’s silky coos and, appropriately, woos.” - Paste Magazine
“...highly infectious, freshly nostalgic, genre-defying gems” - Brightest Young Things

The music of Brooklyn-based Violet Sands is an ethereal soundtrack for a rite of passage, harnessing the alluring vocals of Deidre Muro (Deidre & the Dark, previously of Savoir Adore), the inventive production of David Perlick-Molinari (French Horn Rebellion) and the atmospheric guitar-scapes of Derek Muro (Love Like Deloreans, Mighty Five) to evoke the beauty and struggles of transitioning from one phase of life to another. Their genre-bending music is a fresh and dreamy mix of nostalgia with the present.
After quietly uploading “No Matter What” and “Lift Me Up” to Soundcloud at the start of 2016, Violet Sands organically began to gain listeners and to be featured in emerging music outlets. The likes of PressPlay and HillyDilly noted their modern genre blending of early influences such as Cocteau Twins, Peter Gabriel and The Cure with glitch pop, 90s R&B, shoegaze and trap, resulting in a sound “incomparable to anything out.”
The trio decided to release their first two tracks as part of the Strange Attractor EP, which includes “Coming Back” (Noisey premiere), “Modern Ruins” (NYLON music video premiere) and Airy Canary (which garnered lots of love in Noon Pacific’s curated playlist community). The song “No Matter What” continued to gain traction through 2016 - it was featured in a commercial for Spotify’s Party App along with “Lift Me Up,” it was included on a Vinyl Moon limited edition compilation, and it’s surreal music video was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick and a 2017 Webby Awards Official Honoree (Music Video Category).
In 2017, Violet Sands returned in a massive way with the release of “Hello, I’m Free” which was the soundtrack to Spotify’s announcement of its Discover Weekly feature. They released their debut album “Hotel” in the summer of 2017, which is also the first full-length release on YouTooCanWoo - the brand new label arm of the group’s long time studio and community in Brooklyn.
Singer-songwriter Tiff Ortiz, formerly lead singer/guitarist of Brooklyn band Throw Vision, nods to quirky indie rock stylings with glimmering hints of soul and jazz. Her songs take on new form in a heartfelt, intimate set with experimental guitar master Matteo Liberatore. She is currently working on her debut solo EP.
