Alex Weston will be presenting "Flora," a score for a video installation premiered at the 2017 Venice Biennale, by filmmakers Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler. In addition to the performance of "Flora," Alex will be premiering a new work.
Franky Rousseau and Dominic Mekky will be performing excerpts from their 2015 music drama "April." Due to be released as a film in 2018, the concert version will be performed by 2 singers and pre-recorded chamber ensemble. The story tells of a singer given the news that she is irreparably losing her hearing, and the complications that arise in her personal relationships.
Arthur Hnatek will be performing a set of pieces for drumset and electronics, under the moniker SWIMS. Based in Berlin, Arthur is best known for his work with the Tigran Hamasyan Trio and the Erik Truffaz Quartet.
Presented by Susan Records, this evening will celebrate the release of 3 recordings by the 4 artists being featured. Susan Records is a Brooklyn based record label/collective of likeminded composers, performers, and interdisciplinary artists started by Ben Brody, Franky Rousseau, and Alex Weston.
