Happier Hour: Philosophy to make your life suck less

Presented by Caveat

"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." - Albert Camus

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.”- Virginia Woolf

Philosophers: the original rebels, with or without cause. Join us as we celebrate International Women’s Day (one day early because: rebels) with an all-star female line-up who will share how we can apply the wisdom of the ages to reveal the rebel in all of us.

The Happier Hour is a monthly event series bringing philosophy out of the ivory tower of academia and into our modern day agora: the bar. It’s like the self-help section-- only way funnier, smarter, and with booze. #thehappierhour

This month with Genesis Be and more! Hosted by Monica McCarthy.

Doors 6:30pm, show 7:00pm.
Tickets $20 adv/ $25 door.

In 2016, rapper/activist Genesis Be captivated America with a bold theatric protest against the Mississippi State Flag that went viral. Covered by publications such as VICE, Billboard and NY DailyNews, her work focuses on bringing human dignity to the forefront of a divided America. After teaming up with The Moral Courage Project, Be has been the subject of documentaries featuring her work in Mississippi, bringing together Millenials on the opposite side of the State flag issue. She is gearing up to debut her multi-disciplinary art exhibit title "People Not Things" in Atlanta, mid 2018.

Other guests TBA shortly!

Monica McCarthy loves meaningful dialogues, beginning with her career as an actress on Broadway and in television and film, then and as the impresaria for communities like Holstee, Impact Hub, 92Y, and Escape The City, where she has curated and facilitated thousands at least a couple hundred events focused on purpose and interdisciplinary connections.  Monica also believes philosophy shouldn’t be boring and is the creator and host of philosophical and literary events including Cheshire Parlour (a monthly philosophic dinner salon), Philosophy & Cocktails, and The Write DrunkMonica is a professional speaker on the topic of purpose in an angst-ridden era, and consults with organizations wishing to deepen their messaging and connection with their communities.  Monica is currently writing two books and a play, and procrastinates doing both by researching plane tickets. She also used to be blonde and can neither confirm nor deny if they have more fun. @MissMcCarthy
